The sex of the baby is determined at the moment of conception. A female baby has one X chromosome from her mom, and another X from her dad. A male baby has an X from his mom and a Y from his dad. Each egg in your body has one X chromosome. Sperm on the other hand, contain either an X chromosome, which would create a female baby, or a Y chromosome, which would create a male baby. It is the sperm alone that determines the sex of the baby.
